Antecedents Determining Quality of Management Education in Punjab: A Student’s Outlook - 18-27 p.

In the present study, factors responsible for the determination of quality of management education have been identified. The viewpoint of management students of second year/fourth semester at master’s level has been discussed on quality of professional management education. A sample of 590 management students from 28 management institutes affiliated to Punjab Technical University (PTU) in the state of Punjab has been taken. Data recorded are analysed with the help of factor analysis, weighted mean scores, and chi-square. The results indicated five factors which influence the quality of management education which includes student’s readiness and orientation, teaching quality, advancement opportunities, satisfaction with the system, and level of discipline. The study revealed high level of teaching quality, sufficient advancement opportunities, satisfaction with the system, and discipline maintenance but low student’s readiness and orientation. It may be because of the less exposure and awareness about the processes and methodologies that are adopted by top-notch management institutes and data also support that about 80 per cent of the students belong to and study in management institutes of Punjab state. In addition to this, significant association has been found out between student’s readiness and orientation with the socio-economic profile of the students.
