International trade and International trade logistics happens to be one of the most talked about topics of the day. Like everything on earth this area of business has undergone mountains of changes over the last few decades. Starting from the barter economy and reaching today’s world of International trade is not only a very interesting phenomenon but is also of use to all people namely students, working professionals, businessmen or any other person directly or indirectly related to the world of International trade. The sole purpose of this work is to make the basic concepts on international trade understandable to each and every person related or wishes to be related to the world of international trade, as to how the trade is practiced in INDIA, its contractual methods, operational procedures, the obvious role of statutory bodies like customs, director general of foreign trade etc-----. Throughout this work I have taken all possible means to make the explanations as simple as possible so that any person who is even not related to this field of work can take reference of the same and I believe that this will at least enable him to understand the basics of the trade.<br/><br/>Participation in International trade happens to be an indicator of a countries economic health. Starting from manufacturing of main stream and auxiliary as well as the service industry reflects the country’s performance in the global business hemisphere. International trade and its effects on a country’s economy does not restricts itself to the external economy but also affects the domestic economy by raising the standard of local enterprises to a competitive global platform . International trade of a country and its effects can be felt upon a long chain starting from the balance of payment situation of a country to raising the standard of local living and live hood as well.<br/><br/>Keeping the fundamentals of “trade” constant the periphery of International trade crosses international borders. Unlike domestic trade which is limited to national boundaries international trade aims at reaching every corner of the world making the globe a common market platform. Owing to its very nature it is needless to say that International trade makes it necessary for all its participants to know and understand the fundamental principles, the nature of the trade, the operational and documentation procedures, specially the legal framework of the exporting and importing country as well.<br/><br/>India has been a significant participant in International business amongst the developing nations over the last few decades. India’s emerging strengths and developments have led her to become a significant player in the arena of global business. The Government of India has also taken several steps over the years to boost up the country’s exports. Many liberalization schemes have also been undertaken from time to time over the last few decades.<br/><br/>The core objective of this work is a purely normative approach to define international trade and to make all its readers understand the very basic meaning of the subject. At a glance we go through the process of exports and imports, the overall sketch of the documentation framework which is perhaps the most important of all understandings. Taking into consideration that the trade necessarily demands the presence of an authentic documentation system to ensure safety of transactions, we also proceed to understand the different types of contracts between contracting parties to the trade. Logistics playing a vital role in today’s world of international trade, the changing world of International trade, with the advent and implementation of changing transport systems have also been touched in the course of this work. Taking into consideration that understanding international trade would just remain incomplete without understanding the different transport systems and the co – relation of transportation to the documentation framework. Briefly touching the evolution of world trade we take a glance at how the trade is practiced across the globe, the inevitable role of statutory bodies like customs, trade councils and chamber of commerce in the process of practicing this trade.<br/><br/>It is also evident and understood that the ever changing world of International trade provides a significant scope of self employment across the world and the same is true in India as well , be it in the form of exporters , importers , freight forwarders or custom brokers or consultants.<br/><br/>With deep regards and sincere belief that this world of “ International Trade” is one of the finest forms of commercial business I express my sincere regards and humble tribute to the trade at large.<br/> |
