| Summary, etc | The study was undertaken to estimate the inter-sectoral linkages among the economic sectors of the Indian economy using Rasmussen method (1956).The data source of this study was the input output table consisting of 130 sectors for the year 2007-08 prepared by Central Statistical Office (CSO) of the Government of India and published in 2012. For the purpose of analysis, the Input Output Table was further consolidated into 56 sectors. The key sectors were identified using Hirschman (1958) criteria to identify influential sectors of the economy having substantial spill-over effects on the rest of the economy. The results appear to be in support of policy initiatives for providing ample opportunities for the expansion of manufacturing sector and more so the service sector to achieve the growth rate envisaged in the 12th plan document. |
