Summary: PREFACE TO THE FOURTH EDITION For long, Quantitative Techniques in Management has been one of the most widely adopted books in the field of quantitative analysis. Therefore, it gives me please and satisfaction to place this new edition in the hands of our esteemed readers. This fourth edition of the book continues to retain the clear and crisp pedagogy of the previous three editions and there is no change in the overall format and approach. However, based on my class room experiences and suggestions from users of the previous editions, changes have been made to enhance the content and utility of the book. In particular, the following changes have been made in the book and the material included in accompanying website. The chapter on Transportation and Transshipment problems has been rewritten for greater clarity and better comprehension of the concepts. It has also been extended to include a discussion on Sensitivity Analysis. Chapter 13 on Decision Analysis has also been modified. Further, latest examination questions have been incorporated and also some new questions have been included in several chapters to provide greater variety. Three hundred Power Point slides have been provided to assist teachers in teaching the subject. These may be adapted to facilitate classroom use. The solution manual has also been updated. And included is the key to multiple choice questions. Students’ resources including chapter summaries, multiple choice questions, and a Mathematics and Statistics Refresher including Matrix Algebra, Differential Calculus, Probability and Probability Distributions, continue to be included. In preparing this volume, I have benefitted from the comments and observations of many teachers. In particular, I thank Dr. S.K. Khandelwal, Associate Professor, Ram Lal Anand College, University of Delhi, for his continued interest in the project and for providing his valuable observations. My heartfelt thanks are due to Professor Madhu Vij, Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi for her help in bringing out this volume. Numerous mails from students all over the country have also contributed to make improvements in the book. I feel grateful to them all. My thanks are also due to the entire team at Tata McGraw Hill Education, New Delhi, who brought out this volume in a very professional manner. I look forward to comments and observations from the readers of the book. These can be mailed to me at ndvohra@hotmail.com
