Summary: This new textbook discusses the elements of development and inclusive growth from a critical perspective and provides a fresh view of the dynamic relationship between development, growth, equity and poverty. Economics of Development: Towards Inclusive Growth argues that rather than focusing on growth, income distribution and poverty reduction one at a time, the basic objective of development policies should be to achieve inclusive growth. It looks at the issues of development in comparative light, and investigates and analyses successful and unsuccessful policies followed by developing countries. This book is a result of decades of research and years of experience in policy formulation and implementation. To put forth the discourse on the development of developing countries, the author deals with the origin and progress of development revolution, the liberalist model and the human development approach to inclusive growth.
