Agricultural Production, Marketing and Food Security in India: A Peep into Progress.

The country mainly focussed on improving domestic availability through increasing food production in India, and Green Revolution was started with this objective. With the research and development policy efforts, the country has achieved self-sufficiency in food grain production but still depends on imports for pulses and edible oils. Although, it has reduced the prevalence of undernourishment and malnutrition in the country, however, a large number of people still suffer from these ills. On the distribution side the country has taken many policy and institutional initiatives to improve supply chain related issues in order to provide affordable access to nutritious food to its population.
