In underdeveloped or developing countries the State plays a pivotal role in providing two meals a day. The present paper is an attempt to examine the working of targeted public distribution system in Himachal Pradesh, a hill state. It has been found that the system has enhanced its coverage through well-thought-out distribution channels and networks over the years, contributing significantly to the wellbeing of poor people.
