Role of Indian Cement Sector towards Sustainable Development.

Huge investments are being made towards infrastructural development. However, the abrupt use of natural resources has resulted in damage to the environment in the form of greenhouse-gas emission, specifically carbon dioxide. Cement sector is a major contributor towards greenhouse-gas emission. These environmental issues must be addressed so that the development can be considered sustainable. Corporate environmental strategies play a key role in defining the approach of an industry towards environmental protection by way of waste reduction and pollution prevention. Adoption of proactive environmental strategies by the cement sector has resulted in sustainable development without causing damage to the natural environment. Several companies have made a distinguished place in the industry by way of proactive adoption of environmental strategies. Sustainable development is the only way, which can help in overall development at present without depleting natural resources for the future.
