Employing Knowledge Management Road Map for Integrating KM Initiatives in a Holding Company: A Case Study of NWW, Iran.

This paper aims to detail the approach and methodology employed in Iranian National Water and Wastewater Engineering Company (NWW) to initiate, integrate and manage KM throughout its 90 subsidiaries. The case study briefly portrays how NWW developed KM road map aligning with its strategic goals, and how it developed a nationwide knowledge breakdown structure to foster internal knowledge sharing. Moreover, the KM governance model and the KM maturity assessment model used by NWW to manage and enhance knowledge excellence level in subsidiary companies are described. The developed KM approaches provide considerable cost saving as well as productivity improvement. The methodology presented in this paper can benefit knowledge managers who are responsible for initiating KM practices among holding companies and their subsidiaries.
