An Image Analysis Approach to Marksman Selection

The system developed provides a user-friendly alternative to the existing system. The major problem with the existing system of scoring targets is that it is either slow, inaccurate or prone to error of human biasedness. A target marksman determination system was achieved by calculating the average distance accuracy of fired shots on the proposed bull’s eye. Ten randomly selected 4th year trainees fired 200 shots at five different ‘Figure 11 targets’ consecutively. These ‘Figure 11’ shots were used as samples for the experiments. The results showed that there is a need for regular shooting practice in order to enhance the skill levels of trainees which will lead to marksman selection among the trainee cadets.
